HP PSC 1401 Printing specifications
HP PSC 1401 a-in-one printer works on the drop-on-demand Thermal Inkjet Technology. This method has a complement of the Lightweight Imaging Device Interface Language (LIDIL). The print speed varies by models and according to the complexity of the document. Also, it varies according to the capacity of the system.
Generally, the maximum printing resolution is up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi color with a 1200 input dpi. The speed of production at this mode is 0.12 pages per minute (ppm) for both monochrome and color. However, the Best method offers a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi, at a speed of 0.92 ppm. This speed and resolution go for both monochrome and color. At Normal mode, the resolution is 600 x 600 at the rate of 7 ppm for black, 2.88 ppm for colored. A Fast-Normal mode offers a similar resolution but a 4.69 ppm rate for colored printing. Finally, the Draft mode has the lowest resolution of 300 x 300 dpi. But the highest speed of 18 ppm and 14 ppm for black and colored prints respectively.
HP PSC 1401 Paper Handling
The input tray you can hold a total of 100 sheets of plain paper with a weight of 70 to 90 gsm. The maximum number of sheets that the output tray can hold depends on the media size in it. This feature also depends on the amount of ink you are using. The media sizes supported apart from the plain paper include Legal, Cards, Envelopes, Transparency films, Labels, and Photo papers.
HP PSC 1401 Copy specifications
The copy mode works by Digital Image Processing and can print up to 9 copies from the original document. It also has the fit to page function. The speed of copying is generally 18 copies per minute (CPM) for black and 14 CPM for colored. These copy speeds, however, depending on the model of the printer in use as well as the complexity of the document.

The Scanning function works by the Integrated OCR software that automatically converts scanned text to editable text. The role also includes the image editor. HP PSC 1401 Input/Output Interface
The primary connectivity route is the Hi-speed USB 2.0 port that is also compatible with USB 1.1. The length of the USB cable should be less than 3 m (10 feet) in range. The essence of this is to minimize the injected noise due to high electromagnetic fields.
HP PSC 1401 Limitations
1. There is no USB cable available the printer package. The user may have to purchase one from a trusted outlet.
2. Low output tray capacity of just 50 sheets of plain paper. HP, therefore, recommends emptying the output tray frequently.
